Seventh Letter to My Little One

During pregnancy, you never get tired of hearing your baby's heartbeat! Although, you will get tired of feeling like you live at the doctor's office. I think I averaged about 2.5 hours for each and every appointment I had. Sometimes, it is so difficult to sit in the waiting room for a long period of time just to for a brief check-up with your doctor. It was always worth the wait in the end though! Here is the letter I wrote for our little this time:

11/15/12

My Little One,

Today is your daddy’s birthday! We made our 14 week check-up for today and got to listen to your heartbeat again, which is now at 144 heartbeats per minute. That was one of the best birthday presents your father could have asked for you. You are quite a gift already to us!

Mommy and Daddy spent the rest of the Daddy’s birthday together. Daddy wanted a lasagna dinner with cake, so Mommy made this for me. What Daddy didn’t know was that Mommy had planned a surprise and we had all of our friends over to eat this dinner with us. Your Uncle Josh is living with us at the time and he was a part of this party as well!

We set up our next appointments with the Doctor and next month we will get to have our first ultrasound. We are so excited to see what you look like and we may even be lucky enough to find out if you are a girl or a boy, what a Christmas gift that would be to us!

Love You Always,

Mommy and Daddy

Sixth Letter to My Little One

In this letter, we chose to discuss a song that was "stuck" in our heads. The moment we heard this song, we knew that it described our journey to get our firstborn child. At the time, we had no idea that we were so close to finding out we were, indeed, pregnant!

Isn't it amazing how easily a song can become your theme song for that particular period of time?!?!?

*Update on 10/17/13: I didn't realize how much this song would come to mean to me. I played this song for the duration of my pregnancy. It was also my song of choice while I was in labor. To this day, I can't hear this song without crying! How has music impacted your life?

11/8/12
My Little One,

Prior to finding out we were expecting you, your father and I had picked out a song for you. We had heard it at a friend’s wedding for the first time (well, the first time we actually listened to the words, it is also played in the Twilight movie series) and felt like it summed up our feelings for you. At the time, we had been undergoing several tests to find out if we could have children. We were also speaking with the doctors about starting medication that would increase our chance of pregnancy. We had no idea when we heard the song that we would be blessed with the news that you would come into existence a mere few weeks later!

Heart beats fast
Colors and promises
How to be brave
How can I love when I'm afraid to fall
But watching you stand alone
All of my doubt suddenly goes away somehow
One step closer

I have died every day waiting for you
Darlin' don't be afraid
I have loved you for aThousand years
I'll love you for aThousand more

Time stands still
beauty in all she is
I will be brave
I will not let anything
Take away what's standing in front of me

Every breath, Every hour has come to this

One step closer
I have died everyday
Waiting for you
Darlin' don't be afraid
I have loved you for aThousand years
I'll love you for a Thousand more

And all along
I believed I would find you
Time has brought
Your heart to me
I have loved you for a Thousand years
I'll love you for aThousand more
One step closer
One step closer

I have died everyday
Waiting for you
Darlin' don't be afraid,
I have loved you for aThousand years
I'll love you for aThousand more
And all along I believedI would find you
Time has brought Your heart to me
I have loved you for aThousand years
I'll love you for a Thousand more

Love You Always,
Mommy and Daddy

Pregnancy Announcement

Announcing our pregnancy to everyone was a time in our life that we wanted to make especially fun! We had already told our family and now were ready to tell “the world.” We decided to take some fun pictures and make a special announcement via Facebook.

Here is the picture we used to announce our pregnancy to Facebook:

And just for chuckles, below is the picture we took for fun! We sent this out via email to the family (although they already knew the news). We all got a good laugh. Also... take note at the animal behind us! I guess this horse got out while we were taking our pictures!

What a great background for the picture, right?!?! The hardest part for us was finding the sign in the picture. We drove through several small towns in the area until we came across one street that had the sign. Boy, did we hit the jackpot! They turned out great! We used our own camera (actually, it’s a camcorder that can take pictures) and did our own editing! These pictures didn’t even cost us anything financially!

What creative ways did you use to announce your pregnancy?

However you choose to make this announcement, know that you will remember it forever and treasure it always!

Fifth Letter to My Little One

This next letter was composed as I ended the first trimester of pregnancy. I did not take a picture that week, but did get one a few weeks later (see above)! Our friends and family all know now that we were pregnant (see that here). It was so much fun to share the news with everyone!

11/2/12
My Little One,
I Am Not Alone
~author unknown
Running errands and talking on the phone,
I am pleasantly reminded that I am not alone.
Little tiny hands a precious rounded knee
pushing and twisting that no one can see.
Oh sweet child kicking up your heels,
it is our little secret that only I can feel.
I look forward to your birth,
when I can kiss your skin,
but for now I will just smile,
As I feel you play within.

Oh little one, I cannot feel you yet but you are already intertwined into all moments of my life. I find myself constantly thinking about you, what life will look like for you, and how much our lives are already changing. Everyone asks about you and is already excited to meet you. We have been overcome with joy by the love and support your family and friends have already provided for you.

I am now 13 weeks pregnant and am beginning to get a “bump” as you continue to grow so quickly. The first trimester came and went so quickly and was full of amazing moments: finding out we were going to have you, telling our family, telling our friends, telling everyone, and hearing your little heartbeat. There were also harder moments for me as I deal with pregnancy: nausea, not able to keep food down in the mornings, trouble sleeping, food cravings, and body changes. Your father and I have already started talking about names for you. We picked up a couple of baby name books so that we can start exploring possibilities.
Love You Always,
Mommy and Daddy
